With Sustainable Fashion Scotland
Exciting COP26 craft/design volunteer opportunity! Fri 15th, Mon 18th Oct
As part of COP26, a #SustFashScotland collective (SFS, ZWDO and Beira) have developed a physical installation and digital project titled ‘Generation of Waste’. Generation of Waste aims to educate COP delegates and the public about the impact of fashion’s textile waste throughout the supply chain, and empower them to support global sustainable solutions through a bar chart installation. We want to make sure the delegates take fashion seriously and are looking for multiple volunteers to help create engaging and impactful ‘textile waste inserts’ that will sit inside of the 8 bar chart pillars. This will be a creative, fun, and collaborative design challenge and an opportunity to have your name displayed on the list of contributors as part of this COP26 exhibition.
We have 4 slots to join us to develop these installations in Glasgow:
1. Friday 15th October, 10am-1.30pm
2. Friday 15th October, 2.30pm-6pm
3. Monday 18th October, 10am-1.30pm
4. Monday 18th October, 2.30pm-6pm
Spaces are limited to only 10 people for each time slot. Ensure your spot by signing up early!
This will be a hands-on creative session using craft and hand sewing skills. All skill levels are welcome! We will be there to support and provide all the material but let us know if you have any textile waste that you think would suit this project.
Express your interest in being involved in this project by emailing us with ‘COP26 inserts’ as the subject line. We would love to hear from you!
Another COP26 volunteering opportunity:
The SFS Team are designing and delivering creative future thinking workshops for 13-18 year olds as part of ACS clothing Ltd’s Sustainable Fashion Climate Festival for young people. The theme is ‘reimagining the highstreet’.
We are looking for volunteers to help facilitate in person on dates from 25th Oct to 10th Nov (various dates). There will be 2 facilitators on each day, and you can sign up for as many as there are dates available. If you are interested in finding out more, please get in touch and/or attend our Zoom information session.
Make your voice heard:
As part of our COP26 exhibit we are looking for short video clips to be included, and we need your help!
What we need:
30s-1min landscape video clips of you sharing your favourite items of clothing, the story behind it, focusing on why it is important to you (personal connection, sustainability impact, mending skills, etc.).
Videos will be included as part of our #GenerationofWaste exhibit and shared publicly on social media.
Email your video clips (image and text stories are also welcome) to us with your name, contact details and social media tags.
