TROPIC

Maija Fox, Sculpture and Environmental Art

This is a blog to share my recent experience of partaking In a residency in the remote location of Kuna Yala, Panama supported by GSA sustainibility. The residency was organised by La Wayaka Current an artist lead organisation developing ways to engage people with environmental and philosophical questions of our time through self-reflection, arts and culture.

This opportunity allowed me to continue developing playful, provocative, site-specific, and social-specific responses in the gateway between South and Central America In the Indigenous community of Armila.

It has supported the research and development of my creative practise informed by the environment. The project focuses on the engagement with local communities, working learning and collaborating; providing an insight to a more connected way of living.

This residency has enabled me to develop new projects in order to promote necessary dialogues and understanding between remote areas and cities.
