Visualising Data

Accountants, communication design and the council’s Big Data

Glasgow City Council publishes environmental data, (ie climate change reporting) which by its nature is complex and difficult to relate to.

It is vital for people in Glasgow to connect to this data so they can understand the effects their decisions and actions have on their environment. A dialogue needs to exist between the collectors and disseminators of the data and the public; the researchers call this “newdialogics” and they have asked students in GSA’s Communication Design department to help them create this new dialogue which will draw upon a much wider variety of formats and mediums than just numbers.

More on the Newdialogics website. In partnership with Glasgow City Council, the University of Glasgow and Glasgow School of Art.
